How to bid at a breeze-up sale
Unlike, say, art auctions, there is no system in place for numbering bidders. However, sales companies, for obvious reasons, like to know the identity and credentials of anyone from whom they might be taking bids. The majority of purchasers bid via a bloodstock agent or racehorse trainer, who will naturally be known to the sales company, but it is perfectly possible for anyone to bid on their own behalf. If taking this option, the procedure is that, if not known to the sales company, one should introduce oneself to the company in advance. Each sales catalogue contains a form which can be filled in and given to the company beforehand to assist in this process.
