Breeze Up Bonus

Sales Reports - 9 May: Arqana 2YO Breeze-up Sale

The new date for this year, on the eve of the French Guineas run at Longchamp racecourse seemed to reach its goal as numerous buyers were seen in action for the first time at Arqana, notably Agents Richard O’Gorman and David Loder.

The successes recorded by recent Arqana breeze up graduates TAMAZIRTE (Prix de la Grotte, Gr.3), GRANDCAMP (Prix Noailles, Gr.2) or OISEAU DE FEU (3rd in the Gr.3 Prix de Fontainebleau), undoubtedly fuelled the rising popularity of this sale.

Top Lot 111, was a first-crop son of Dubawi who was consigned by Willie Browne’s Mocklershill, setting a new record top price when knocked down to Paul Nataf for €280,000. Nataf was acting on behalf of his long term client Gérard Laboureau, who has been particularly lucky with his ARQANA purchases this season: they include Prix Pénélope victrix CELIMENE as well as eye-catching maiden scorers

ARQANA president Eric Hoyeau stated after the last lot went through the ring: “The trial has converted : our aim was to raise the level of the catalogue, improve the quality of the breeze up presentation and broaden the scope of our audience. The increase registered across the board tends to prove that these objectives have been met. We express out thanks to the pinhookers who set up the Breeze Up Bonus scheme and are also very grateful to the buyers who renewed their confidence in ARQANA, having experienced great success with some of our graduates this spring.”
