The own sister to the Rockfel Stakes winner LAHALEEB was the highlight of the second and final day of the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale. Trade over the two days saw 115 lots sold with a median of 60,000 guineas. The chesnut filly by REDBACK out of the BLUSHING FLAME mare FLAMES looked one of the more attractive prospects in the catalogue and an impressive Obreeze¹ on Tuesday only added to her lustre. Consigned from Tony and Roger O¹Callaghan¹s Tally-Ho Stud, Ireland, the filly attracted the attention of numerous bloodstock agents including Jeremy Brummitt, Peter and Ross Doyle and racehorse trainer Brian Smart. However, none were able to match the efforts of Tadcaster trainer Tom Tate who secured the filly on behalf of Dubai based owner Jim Hay.
At the conclusion of the 2009 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented;
“The Craven Breeze Up continues to attract the leading owners from throughout the world. We have welcomed buyers from throughout Europe and further afield, Japanese buyers have been active at the top end of the market and we were delighted to have the Hong Kong Jockey Club making a major contribution at this sale for the first time.”
“Time after time people have remarked this week on what a superb display the two year olds put on at the Breeze on Tuesday and I am confident we will see this mirrored by equally impressive racecourse results in the coming months. The breezes were a tribute to the professionalism of the consignors who should also be commended for their collective energy and enthusiasm in putting together the £500,000 OBreeze Up Bonus Scheme¹. The scheme has without doubt caught the imagination of buyers and should continue to have an impact at our forthcoming Guineas Breeze Up in two weeks time.”
